J. Travis Keel - Declaration of Candidacy

Keel

J. Travis Keel has declared he will be running for city council during the Santaquin City 2023 Municipal Election.

My name is J. Travis Keel and I am running for Santaquin City Council.  My wife, Lacey, and I moved our 6 kids to Santaquin 5 years ago when I took a job for Payson City as a law enforcement officer. Lacey and I grew up in Delta where I worked as a law enforcement officer and served on Delta City Council for two years before I took the job in Payson. Our family has loved living in Santaquin and enjoy its hometown feel.  Growing up in a farming community I recognize the role agriculture serves in Santaquin  and support our agribusiness culture. I chose to run for city council because I enjoy politics and I realize that the most important decisions are made on a local level.  I believe the city government should provide certain services such as sewer, clean safe water, and safe roads.  I also believe that when you call 911 you should be able to get the help you need from police fire and ambulance services.  Like most people I want low taxes, but I understand that for the government to provide those essential services, they must be appropriately funded.  If elected I promise to make responsible decisions with your sacred tax dollars, and to work toward solutions to keep your taxes and cost for services as low as possible.  I also believe in respecting personal property rights.  I embrace the principles our founding fathers believed in when this great country was founded, and will work to protect those rights and principles as a Santaquin City Council Member.
