Building Permits

To apply for a building permit, do so online by clicking the Online Application Portal button at the bottom of this page or on the Online Application Portal menu link on the left. Once you are at the Online Application Portal, create an account for yourself with a user name and password, enter your information, and upload any required documents. To see a list of the information you will need to submit for your permit, click the blue links below. 

  • Building permits are reviewed and approved on a first-come, first-serve basis. Your permit application will be submitted to the Building Official when ALL of your required documents are received. If you are applying for a new single-family, multi-family, or commercial building permit, you will also need to submit a Plan Review Deposit before your permit will move forward. Allow up to 2 weeks for your permit to be approved once ALL of your documents are uploaded to your completed online permit application and your Plan Review Fees are paid (if applicable).
  • We accept checks and cash only for permit-related fees. Makes checks out to Santaquin City.

General Information and Requirements for Scheduling an Inspection: 

  • To schedule an inspection, call our office at 801-754-1011.
  • Be sure to have the permit number and address.
  • All inspections need to be scheduled a minimum of 24 hours in advance during office hours. (Monday-Thursday 9:00 am to 5:00 pm and Friday 9:00 am to 1:00 pm). To schedule an inspection for Monday, be sure to call our office by 1 pm on Friday.
  • Most of the time, your inspection can be scheduled for the next business day. At times, however, the schedule may already be full. In that case, our office staff will inform you of the next available date.
  • We do NOT do timed inspections unless it’s for Footings, Foundations, or inspections that require us to enter an occupied home (basement finishing, remodeling etc).
  • Job sites must be ready for inspection by 8:00 am on the requested inspection day.
  • If the job site is not ready for the requested inspection, a re-inspection fee of $65.00 will be charged. Re-inspection fees must be paid at the Santaquin City office by check or cash prior to any further inspections. Fees will not be accepted at the site.
  • For each type of inspection (foundation, drywall etc.), you are allowed 2 inspections (one first-time inspection and one follow-up inspection if needed). If any additional inspections are required, a $65.00 re-inspection fee will be charged. The re-inspection fee must be paid at the City Office by cash or check prior to receiving any further inspections.
