The Santaquin City Police Department offers the following Awareness and Education programs:

Ride Along Program

Individuals may ride along with an officer for part of his or her shift. Those wishing to participate in this program must be 18 years old or older and a student involved in study of law enforcement or quasi law enforcement. Interested persons must come to the office and complete a form and provide a copy of their driver’s license. A background check will be completed before the ride along is scheduled.

Citizens Academy

The Santaquin Police Department takes pride in our community and understands the importance of establishing and maintaining community partnerships between the police department and the individuals and organizations we are committed to serving. We strongly believe the public should play a vital role in prioritizing and dealing with public safety. Police can rarely solve public safety problems alone; therefore, the goal of Santaquin Police Department is to develop interactive partnerships with citizens to develop solution to problems and increase trust in our officers.

Station Tours

Tours of the Police Department and are offered to groups. Visitors will be shown the departments and be given insights on how the department works. Fingerprinting can also be done for Scouting merit badge requirements. Please schedule an appointment by calling 801-754-1070.

Traffic School

The City of Santaquin offers a Traffic School class as an option in resolving a moving violation.

To pursue Traffic School, you must appear at the Justice Court within 14 days from the date of your ticket to determine if you are eligible. Eligibility is based on your driving history. The clerks at the justice court will not be able to approve you for Traffic School if you meet any of the following conditions:

  • If you have prior moving violations according to local records within the last year
  • If you completed the Santaquin/Genola Traffic School within the year previous to the date of the citation
  • If there was more than one (1) moving violation charged on the citation
  • If you did not have a valid driver’s license at the time of the citation
  • If there was alcohol present, or alcohol-related charges, on the citation
  • If you possess a commercial driver’s license

If you are determined eligible, the court clerk will assist you with a Plea in Abeyance agreement, which is required by State law and outlines the requirements for your case to be resolved.

The court clerk can assist in signing you up for Traffic School at the same time you enter into your agreement.The cost of Traffic School is the original fine amount PLUS a $50 Plea in Abeyance fee. Please be prepared to pay for Traffic School and the Plea in Abeyance fee on the date you come into the Justice Court. Traffic School is held the 3rd Tuesday of each month at 7:00 pm in the basement of the Public Safety Building located at 275 West Main Street in Santaquin.
