Building & Safety Division

The Santaquin City Building and Safety Division is in charge of making sure all building and infrastructure projects meet health, safety, International Building Code, and City Code requirements. This department reviews residential, commercial and infrastructure plans, issues permits and performs inspections. 

Building Permits

  • To apply for a building permit, do so online by clicking the red link below (online application portal). This will take you to our online permitting website. Create an account for yourself with a user name and password, enter your information and upload any required documents. To see a list of the information you  will need to submit for your permit, click the blue links below. 
  • Building permits are reviewed and approved on a first-come, first-serve basis. Your permit application will be submitted to the Building Official when ALL of your required documents are received. If you are applying for a new single family, multi-family, or a commercial building permit, you will also need to submit a Plan Review Deposit before your permit will move forward. Allow up to 2 weeks for your permit to be approved once ALL of your documents are uploaded to your completed online permit application and your Plan Review Fees are paid (if applicable).
  • We accept CHECK and CASH only for permit related fees. Makes checks out to Santaquin City.

General Information and Requirements for Scheduling an Inspection:

  • To schedule an inspection, call our office at 801-754-1011.
  • Be sure to have the permit number and address.
  • All inspections need to be scheduled a minimum of 24 hours in advance during office hours. (Monday-Thursday 9:00 am to 5:00 pm and Friday 9:00 am to 1:00 pm). To schedule an inspection for Monday, be sure to call our office by 1 pm on Friday.
  • Most of the time, your inspection can be scheduled for the next business day. At times, however, the schedule may already be full. In that case, our office staff will inform you of the next available appointment time.
  • Footing and Foundation Inspections, as well as inspections that require our inspectors to enter an occupied home (basement finishing, remodeling etc.), can be scheduled for a specific time. All other inspections will be scheduled for either Morning (8 am-Noon) or Afternoon (Noon-2:30 pm).
  • For each type of inspection (foundation, drywall etc.), you are allowed 2 inspections (one first time inspection and one follow-up inspection if needed). If any additional inspections are required, a $65.00 re-inspection fee will be charged. The re-inspection fee must be paid at the City Office prior to receiving any further inspections. NOTE: If you schedule and inspection and are not ready when our inspectors arrive at the job site, it will count as one of your two allowed inspections. If you are not ready, and you cancel at least half an hour before the inspector arrives at the job site, it will not count against you.

  • Summit Ridge Development was annexed in 2002 at the south end of Santaquin. Plans include over 3500 residential homes ranging from high density multi-family to estate lots. So far, almost 700 lots have been platted. Over 1 Million square feet of retail, office, and light manufacturing type uses are planned near the future commuter rail station. Primary builders working in this development include Salisbury Homes, DR Horton, Arrive Homes, Ivory Homes, and several custom home builders.
  • North Orchards was annexed in 2004 at the north end of Santaquin. Originally planned to have over 1500 residential homes. A new elementary school opened in the fall of 2018, and the area is expected to include a future High School.  Primary builders working in this development include Sierra Homes and other semi-custom home builders. 
  • Foothill Village was annexed in 2004 near the southeast end of Santaquin. This development will have over 400 homes when completed. The primary builders for this development are Salisbury Homes and DR Horton.
